a flash about APPS Japan
If it is in Cinderella story which all the magic was gone at midnight, then my own ‘magical’ story was just begin at midnight of 22th August 2013.It seems like a dream come true when I was finally depart in Japan for the first time, and start my journey in 12th APPS.Hi,IPSFers!
My name is Raisatun Nisa Sugiyanto, and I am the 4th year student of Pharmacy Faculty, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. I would like to say thank you to DF event grant for the opportunity become one of DF grant receiver. The 12th APPS in Japan was my first experience to join such a great International event held by IPSF, and I have got lots of experience I have never got before.
I went to this event together with five other delegations from BEM KMFA UGM. Since I was not the official delegates from my association, I didn’t join the regional meeting but I joined lots of workshop based on my choices instead. The theme of workshop in each class was interesting and important for our future career as a pharmacist. We made an exciting discussion and sometimes some fascinating posters in a group consist of participant from the different countries. It was the moment where we could spread and share knowledge about pharmaceutical problems, condition, regulation, and future hopes in some countries so that we could have a talk and act for the best solution. The symposium also well-arranged and became an inspirational moment. The speakers were all the great people in their field who shared the motivation for us, the future pharmacist that the world is waiting for.
When it comes to the poster session, it was a great opportunity for me to be one of the representations from my country in this event. It was an honor to present my research result about a plant found in Indonesia called Secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.) as DNA damage protection and to have ‘secang-tea’ party with some friends after the presentation. Then I was brought to a joyful when I was awarded 3rd best speaker in this poster session. That was one of the extraordinary experience I got in APPS Japan.
But the best of all, APPS Japan was the place where the new friendships were built. It was the time to expand the networking, and to understand each other. We could know more about the living, the lifestyle, the culture, and even the food from our friends’ country. We had a very good time in the health campaign. A big group of participants were burst to the streets in Tokyo and gave the positive health warning directly to the society. It was very fun when all the participant had to give the health warning in Japanese language :D
The memorable parties in the night also become the part of the event. They were international night where people gathered to show up the culture from each country, the Japanese night where we were treated by the Japanese culture and food, the auction night for the night that the auction were done to help people to go for the next IPSF event, and also Gala night where we had to say goodbye and keep-in-touch-promises to each other.
Then, finally seven days had just passed so fast in APPS Japan. And in August 28th, I just started again my dream to join the next IPSF event so hopefully I can gather again with all of the great pharmacy students like you, guys! :)
